Initial planning for my daughter Erin's first Birthday Party, did not include the Lockdown measures that meant none of our friends and family were able to come and celebrate with us. But I’m glad to say that though Lockdown may have reduced the number of Party guests, and increased the number of video calls made that day, overall, Erin’s special day was very special indeed!
When I first started thinking about the theme for Erin's Birthday, I knew that the Party would be in May and obviously was for a girl’s 1st Birthday. I wanted a theme with colours that matched this time of year and the occasion. I decided upon a ‘Pink and Gold’ theme. I sourced very pretty, very bright & very pink decorations, with tasteful hits of gold throughout.
My first thought was for a balloon arch. I chose one with balloons that were coloured bright pink, baby pink and a peachy pink.It also came with some clear balloons with gold confetti inside. The peachy pink hue in the arch, I thought, added something to it, that helped to achieve the colour palette effect I’d envisaged. CONFESSION TIME!- This was the first time that I’d ever bought or assembled a balloon arch, and I didn't know what I was going to find when I opened the package, or have any idea on how to assemble it! I was also without a backdrop to attach the balloon arch to, or any wall hooks, - (used to secure the arch to a wall). In their absence I used cleverly placed string and taped that to the wall in well-hidden places throughout the arch… This thankfully worked! But I will definitely be more prepared next time for Balloon Arch assembly.
Erin’s main Birthday Present from me was a Personalised Pink Pram, made by Tuku Tuk Toys via their Etsy store. I was really happy with the beautifully high-quality finish of this pram and especially liked its sturdiness, - which was definitely an added bonus. I would highly recommend this pram as a 1st Birthday Present for any toddler. Her other gifts included a Bath Bubble Frog, some Books from the GREAT Chris Ferrie’s ‘Baby University’ collection, a Mega Blox table (that we haven’t used much since the party), a trike, a pull along crocodile xylophone and a doll. I had particular fun wrapping her presents with the great Wrapping Paper I purchased from Ruspepa via Amazon which
was particularly delightful.
